Domaine Chapel, Beaujolais Villages; Beaujolais, France 2020

Michele Smith first met David Chapel in Beaujolais, while on holiday from New York where she worked as the wine director for Brooklyn Fare. David was working for renowned Beaujolais producer Lapierre at the time. 

Now they make wine together across a few key spots in Beaujolais, picking vineyards at higher elevations (400-460m) for a fresh style. They work completely organically and work the land by hand. The wines are delicate and precise and despite their easy drinking nature, complex and fascinating.
